An official civic resource guide   Here’s how you know ⌄

Where should renters go when a repair request stalls?

If a landlord has not responded to a repair request, the first step is documentation: dated photos, written requests, and a log of calls. The second step is knowing which agency handles which problem.

Housing code violations go to DCRA’s successor agency, DOB. Rent-related disputes go to the Office of the Tenant Advocate. This guide explains both paths and what to expect after filing.
